Alkaline hydrolysis refers to the process of using sodium hydroxide or potassium hydroxide to catalyze the hydrolysis of biological organisms to produce sterile aqueous solutions (including peptides, amino acids, sugars and soap substances). Heating to 150 ° C accelerates the hydrolysis process. The solid by-product of this process is the mineral component of bones and teeth, a residue that is sterile and can be pressed into a powder. The high temperature and hydrolysis process can break the protein capsid of the virus and the peptide bond of the prion, and the oil and nucleic acid can be degraded. The entire process of alkalization hydrolysis should be carried out in a non-embroidered steel pressure vessel with an insulated, steam jacket. At present, this method is mainly used for the harmless treatment of animals infected with CWD and other TSEs, such as the treatment of CWD infected deer in the United States.

The advantage of this method is that it can be combined with sterilization and digestion technology at the same time, can reduce the weight and volume of waste by 97%, and can completely inactivate the pathogen. The disadvantages are limited processing power and possible spills.

1. Uniform temperature distribution:In the process of heating and sterilization, the water is continuously sprayed from nozzles adopted high speed spraying, so that the temperature in the pot is kept stable and the sterilization effect is improved.
2. Direct heating and indirect cooling, and prevent the second pollution. Sterilizing and cooling processes use the same water. Circulating water is directly heated by steam diffusion tube in the heating process. Under 0.5MPapressure, it only takes 6-12min to rise the temperature from 20 DEG to 121 DEG. Continuous cooling by heating exchanger is isolated from the products, preventing the second pollution in the cooling effectively.
